Love Actually.....

What Love means to a 4-8 year old . . . Touching words from the mouth of babes.

A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, 'What does love mean?'
The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined.. See what you think...

'When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love.'
Rebecca- age 8

'When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.'
Billy - age 4

'Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other.'

Carl-age 8

'Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs.'
Chrissy - age 6

'Love is what makes you smile when you're tired.'
Terri - age 4

'Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.'
Danny - age 7

'Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss'
Emily - age 8

'Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.'
Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)

'If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,'
Nikka - age 6 (we need a few million more Nikka's on this planet)

'Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday'
Noelle - age 7

'Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.'
Tommy - age 6

'During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling.
He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore.'
Cindy - age 8

'My mommy loves me more than anybody You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night.'
Clare - age 6

'Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken.'
Elaine-age 5

'Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford.'
Chris - age 7

'Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day.'
Mary Ann - age 4

'I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.'
Lauren - age 4

'When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.' (what an image)
Karen - age 7

'Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross.'
Mark - age 6

'You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.'
Jessica - age 8

And the final one and my favorite....
The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.
Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.
When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said,
'Nothing, I just helped him cry'

Fall Break FUN!....

Ryleigh,Aidan,Makenna and 3 large pumpkins!
Farmer Rob and his "animals"

On the Hayride
The girls working on their pumpkins
Rob and Todd...hmmm
decorating .....
still working on it....
they are finished!
We took the kids to Mother Nature's farm for a little fun through their pumpkin patch. Nikki, Rob and Aidan joined us.
The hayride was a lot of fun ,especially in the dark. We came here years ago at Christmas time and chose several trees. It was sad to see just how much land they sold off.
They have a pumpkin patch that the kids can pick their own pumpkins and then decorate them. There is also a maze made from hay that was interesting to navigate in the dark.
We all had a great time!

A week before I was a freshman, my Aunt Kathleen told me that my High School years would be the best years ever. I would have so much fun and I should enjoy it. She was so right!
Saturday, we had a Seminary reunion, not everyone came but people that hadn't shown up in the past ,were there. Our group was so large and yet so close. We had so many parties, bike rides, easter egg hunts, picnics, New year's,dirt bikes in the desert, camping, snow outings, Saturday Night dances, etc.....If we went to an actual school function, I don't remember it. It was great to share these memories with those that knew us when. People like Charlie,Gary,Cheryl,Tom,Marti,Von,Suzy,Dale,Jon,Myrla,
Cindy,Glenn,Ted,Debbi,Randy,Greg,Scott,Don and Ron...
These are just a few....
I enjoyed hearing stories that I was either involved in or knew about but had forgotten.
It was interesting to hear Charlie tell me what a fun teenage girl that I was.
Tom reminded me of the time that we went swimming at my house in January, which was the time my bikini top fell off playing chicken, ouch! I didn't remember that, nor did I want to!
I reminded him that he let me drive his parents beast of a car, and I hit the gas instead of the brakes, and were headed straight for a brick wall.
Von, Gary,Greg and I, out in the desert on their dirt bikes.
Von teaching me how to drive a stick in his VW bug.
Bob teaching me what a french kiss was, ok well, a lot of guys showed me that one.
Dale, Charlie, Von were always in the hospital for their motorcycle accidents, I'm not sure how they graduated? hmmmmm
Charlie's dad took me in his little airplane an hour after Charlie took off for his mission, that was a fun first for me. So many memories, there is not enough time nor space...
We had invited our seminary teachers, Brother Mosdell, Brother Yorgason, and Brother Pothier but some were on missions, but promised to come to the next reunion.
We all decided that we are not waiting 10 years for the next get together, so I guess Cheryl and I are in charge of this one!
Can't wait to let her know!!!
Thanks to everyone that came - we needed more time to visit..
Took me back in time, I think I need to go to a Saturday night dance!

Wishing for Paris....grounded to my room..

South wall of my bedroom
keep going...
entire length....
North wall in my bedroom...

See a pattern here? Anything at all?

So here it goes...I PROMISED Todd that I will get our bedroom cleaned if he took care of the Duties at Froots. I figured I got the good end of the deal, I stay in my pajamas and clean my room, right? Uh, right... When I was a child I would start cleaning and HAD to( as in NOT an option), redecorate my space. I have not had the energy nor time nor any creative thought since I started my little adventure in living in this 26 year old house. This bedroom has been on the last to do list. The walls need to be re drywalled as far as I am concerned, all the things that I don't do, so in waiting for McCoy to get to my wish list on his priority list,(that goes for all my boys that promised me stuff, if I did certain things for them, you KNOW who you are) Just so you don't think Todd is the only one ignoring my needs here, anyway....
So I collect things, preferably old, chipping paint off metal, wood, whatever, I LOVE LOVE LOVE
old FRENCH things. Some I have had since I was a kid and some acquired along the way.
Too much stuff if you ask Todd. He comes from a very orderly environment and I love his mom but according to McCoy, he didn't have pictures on the walls or any kind of decorations. His mom is very creative and I have a hard time believing this little fantasy but that's how he sees it.
My dream place to live not work, not own, but live is Domestic Bliss in downtown Mesa.
I am in my element when I am in that atmosphere. The other place that literally makes my heart soar is a garden place named On the Veranda in east Phoenix, it is actually in an old garden shed but they have amazing furniture and vignettes. Those 2 ladies travel Europe buying their way through, it makes me tingle ,seriously just thinking about it..... So, back to cleaning... I'm looking at my sad walls and the BORING white disgusting walls and I think, What am I waiting for?
So I get my handy little tool kit out and start rearranging and hanging and repurposing my stuff.
I have a long way to go and I am not even going to show you the other half of the room but I kinda like how this looks until I completely tear everything out and redo it again!
If you have any ideas on how these would look better, please please post it so I can re do it!
Also if you see any cool French stuff, don't forget to email me! I'm in my own domestic bliss on the veranda and may never come out! (you may have to leave it at the door)
I am so entrenched here that I used my camera phone rather than the expensive little number downstairs to take these pic's, it's sad, really....come visit me..

Note: Mary Emmerling from Country Living just posted these 2 shops and oddly enough, together! Here is the info...if you are going, call me, I'll come out of my room...
On the Veranda. Mary loves the store’s pretty vignettes layered with outdoor furniture, garden ornaments, and antique ironwork. 4748 E. Indian School Rd. , Phoenix ; 602/955-8690
Domestic Bliss. For a full afternoon of shopping fun—everything from Italian chandeliers to stylish diaper bags. Don’t forget to go upstairs for fun clothes and jewelry. 166 W. Main St. , Mesa ; 480/733-0552

Glenn Beck...LIVE

Orpheum Architecture...fantastic

Orpheum inside-the details are incredible
Ankarlo and Beck

Glenn More Orpheum architecture- I cannot get enough of this!
Todd, Nikki, Blu,Makenna, Aidan and I, all went to the "Talk the Vote" show with Glenn Beck downtown at the Orpheum theater. It was educational and entertaining.
The kids now have a better understanding of the political process and views.
As I have posted before, I adore Glenn and I am more than positive that if I had a political show that I would mirror his.
He brought a lot of our shared religous views into his commentary, I can summarize it with one sentence....Everything that we have is from our Heavenly Father. We need to pray and give thanks.
Thank You Glenn!
Now to mention the Orpheum theater... It was built in the early 1900's and I am so grateful that someone had the foresight to restore this lovely old theater rather than tear it down for an ugly highrise.
I have wonderful memories of watching a live Wallace and Ladmo stage show and the memory of yelling at Gerald (whom oddly enough was played by no other than Pat McMahon, who is on stage with Glenn !)
I'm sad that my younger children will never experience anything like the Wallace and Ladmo show. They have National kid's shows but nothing like the magic of local tv.
Anyway, I also saw "The Sound of Music" in this theater when I was a kid and it was spectacular!
Nope, they sure don't make 'em like that anymore. I urge you to visit and look at all the details in the lobby and in the theater, you will step back in time.
They have restored every detail and it's nicely appointed.
We all had a great time and enjoyed walking downtown to Majerles, which is a nice reminder that
Basketball season is upon us! Go Suns!!! I digress.....
Thanks for joining us Nikki and Aidan! It was FUN!!!
